EHRA-PATHS at ESC Congress 2026
EHRA-PATHS held a scientific session on 30 August 2026, entitled “Multimorbidity in Elderly Patients with Atrial Fibrillation: Focus on AFFIRMO, EHRA-PATHS, and AF-B-STEP.”
The session was chaired by Professor Soeren Paaske Johnsen and Doctor Emma Svennberg and brought together experts to discuss key challenges and innovations in the management of atrial fibrillation and multimorbidity.
EHRA-PATHS was represented through the presentation “Navigating One Medical Device Regulation Across Many Countries: Lessons Learned from the EHRA-PATHS Project”, delivered by Professor Lien Desteghe. The session also featured presentations on:
- The healthcare and economic burden of multimorbidity, polypharmacy, and frailty in AF populations by Assistant Professor Davide Vetrano
- Measuring and applying atrial fibrillation burden by Professor Renate B. Schnabel
- Integrated care management approaches from the mAFA, MIRACLE-AF and AFFIRMO projects by Professor Gregory Y. H. Lip.
In addition, the project was promoted throughout ESC Congress 2026 at the EU Projects Desk through a range of dissemination materials, including flyers, branded tote bags and an interactive quiz showcasing EU-funded cardiovascular research initiatives.
